Anyone who drives there in their own car cannot be helped. Anyone who drives there too fast does not experience enough. Anyone who is lucky goes astray at the turn-off from the motorway that goes past it. Because then he can attune himself to the tight bends and difficult search. So anyone who chooses the car will be punished. Just because he arrives too early, regardless of how much he has delayed. The reasonable approach is by train. Connoisseurs reach the Westbahnhof by a carriage on rails . . .  The spatial distance between Vienna and Eichgraben in the Vienna Woods is small; the difference between the Vienna art scene and what  has been taking place every summer for 39 years in the gallery in Eichgraben in the former “Gasthof zur Post” next to the railway station is infinite. In Eichgraben, friends, collectors and fanatics meet, hardly functionaries. Instead of big sponsors there is Schmalzbrot, instead of the feeling of the “Seitenblicke” TV show there is atmosphere. The program, the artists, the house, the association, the Bruckmeiers are to be praised. The gallery is a good tip, no longer an insider’s tip. (Erich Rentrow, Paderborn)
