The Baden Art Association is probably one of the oldest art associations in Austria, but at the age of 98 it has established itself as one of the young exhibition platforms for national and international art. Between six and eight exhibitions are held here each year, but concerts and readings are also organised.

The motto for 2013 is “Life Lies – Illusion”. The term “life lies” was introduced by the dramatist Henrik Ibsen at the end of the 19th century. Do life lies still exist? Don’t we all need illusions now and then? Where are the illusions in art? Isn’t all art illusion? Sigmund Freud wrote: “Illusions commend themselves to us because they save us pain and allow us to enjoy pleasure instead.”
